Summer fair: Riders Infant and Junior School
Riders Infant and Junior School, Havant, Hampshire, 450
pupils
Ian Addison, PTA Chair
Friday 1 July 2016, 3-5pm
500 attendees
PLANNING
- Who made up your organising team? Me, but I
did bounce ideas around with a couple of other teachers now and
again
- Have you ever organised an event like this
before? Yes, this is the third summer fair I have
organised. I've also organised three Christmas fairs
- Did you run a raffle? Yes, although we didn't
have prizes donated from businesses this year. We tried this once
and barely received anything, so all prizes were either bought with
PTA funds or donated by parents as part of non-uniform day
- Did you have a programme? No
- How much did you charge for
entry? No
VOLUNTEERS AND SUPPORT
- Did you allow outside stallholders? Yes
- How much did you charge stallholders? Nothing
- if anything they added to the fair and I was grateful for their
attendance. We needed all the stalls we could get! If they offer a
raffle prize, I wouldn't say no though
- How did you get people to volunteer? I called
upon teachers and staff within the school. Some stayed for an hour,
and others stayed for a bit longer!
- How did you draw up your roster? There was a
blank sheet of activities in the staffroom and people added their
names to the shifts and stalls they could cover
- How did you thank your volunteers? I put up a
note on the staffroom noticeboard
